The Teroz 604X amplifier for the VHF (DAB) band 174 to 240 MHz is equipped with a miniature microwave amplifier with E – PHEMT (ultra low noise) technology. At the input and output of the amplifier there are circuits that suppress unwanted signals outside the operating band and adapt the impedance to 75? unbalanced. Practical tests have shown that the amplifier is able to process a signal from the antenna with a level of around 30dBµV, which is at the noise threshold and is therefore also suitable for long-distance reception. This amplifier is of great benefit in places where there is a very weak useful signal in close proximity to a strong interfering signal, when the signal from the antenna must first be amplified and only then can the interference be tuned. The high excitability of this amplifier allows for just such use without the risk of overexcitation by a strong signal and degradation of the useful signal. In this case, it is recommended to place the amplifier as close as possible to the antenna, because every dB of coaxial cable attenuation is added to the amplifier noise. The amplifier can significantly reduce the noise figure of the entire amplifier chain in this frequency band.
However, the amplifier is also suitable as a power element for larger signal distributions, because it is able to deliver an undistorted signal with an output level exceeding 120 dBµV!!! Which is comparable to the values ??of power amplifiers for STA and TKR, but at an incomparably lower price.
